New Twist On Summer Drinks: Bourbon Iced Tea & Fru-Tea Popsicles
Living in Las Vegas, we have access to some of the greatest weather, obviously. But, also the most awesome outside activities! Right down the street from us is a huge wet park (dry in colder months) with water fun , rolling green hills of grass and giant play structures (Ethan’s favorite place all Summer!) Since our yard is desert landscaped (no grass, dirt/rocks, blech) we trot down to the park a lot. The kids play, the dog runs in the fenced area for pets, and we sit in the shade soaking up the fun, relaxing and getting out of the house! I had an amazing summer picnic planned last weekend. Made some cool Summer drinks, fruity popsicles, the whole she-bang.
And then. It rained! Yep. It rains like 2 whole days out of the year here. So, naturally as soon as I had everything including my super awesome Summer drinks all set-up, it started coming down. I made fun fruit-ka-bobs for the kids to put in their Lemon SnapTea and the adults got some of my ‘special’ Bourbon Iced Tea with lemons and limes. It poured. Hard. With hail too. Since I’m way to cool to let a little rain ruin my parade… err… picnic, we packed up and set-up in the backyard under the shade screen.
And then… the rain stopped. The hail too. Dry as a.. well, dry as a desert! Nope, I wasn’t even a tiny bit grumpy. I had my Bourbon Iced Tea waiting for me! The kids were just pumped because I made them some cool popsicles and everyone else was just happy that the rain made our *118 day a balmy *105! Our picnic food and Summer drinks were perfectly good in the backyard! Only thing missing was the pretty green grass.
But because they have my genes, the family was happy! Just look at my kiddos and their smiley faces. Ignore the mouth fulls of food. Honestly, I was just glad I had done my shopping for our special Summer drinks and picnic the day before. The parking lot at Walmart flooded. I bought all the party tableware at the Party Shop but Walmart had everything else. Including the SnapTea which was kind of important since I needed that for my Bourbon Iced Tea and the kids Fru-Tea popsicles! The gallon jugs were great since there were 6 of us, I picked up 3. There was also a handy, dandy coupon attached for $1.00 of 2. It’s good through 9/30. You should stock-up now for your Summer drinks!
The kiddos will love you forever if you made these! Simply cut up some pineapple, watermelon and add some Snap Tea into the blender. Blend. Pour in popsicle forms and BAM! Instant super-mom status right there!
Now, the kiddos can’t have this Summer drink! It’s a great new twist only the adults get! Rather than the long process of brewing home tea and making simple syrups, this is way easier! Get outside quicker and enjoy the weather. Dance in the rain, even! 8 cups of Lemon SnapTea, 2 cups of American Honey, fresh lemons and limes. Chill and serve over ice! You could totally substitute flavored rums in these Summer drinks too! If you try it, will you let me know how they taste? If you’re a Margarita lover, you should check out our Watermelon Margarita. You have all the ingredients already! Promise. Maybe not the pop-rocks. But you could grab those easy enough.
#SnapTea made our day awesome, even with the rain. And hail. Huge, ping pong ball sized hail. In Vegas! Ya know what else is awesome? This digital magazine that will show you all sorts of ways to #LiveSoFab this Summer!

I never thought about making tea into Popsicles but this looks like a fun idea. We’ve been getting a lot of rain too so maybe I should fix some bourbon tea and sit on the porch and just enjoy the showers.

Looks delicious! I never would have thought to use premade ice tea to make Popsicles. Now I just need to find a Popsicle mold!

Looks like a blast! Making our own popsicles is on my summer bucket list. It’s so much more fun to create things and then enjoy them as a family.

The whole spread looks great, rain or no! I like the way you made the popsicles fruit-tea, something I never considered. I’m definitely going to try that. And the bourbon iced-tea? Great for an adult beverage; awesome idea!
